M92 PAP (Polu-Automatska Puska or Semi-Automatic Rifle)

Also know as the "Ciganka" or Gypsy because if the folding stock or because the area that produced the rifle has a dense Roma/Gypsy population 

This weapon should have a folding metal stock similar to the M70AB2 however that is a restricted class if weapons here due to length of barrel. The fix: a $200 tax stamp from the ATF "Dept

 of Justice". Hopefully that law gets fixed as this weapon needs a stock, I wrote them about this subject, they have not responded. I guess I had better start saving up.

AKM furniture/stock staining DIY

I am using this 1x4 board of pine wood as a "test stain" with 1st aid generic iodine/iodide solution as stain. I plan on refinishing an AKM stock whose finish is severely cracked and crumbling from years of harsh conditons.

Before I try out this experiment on the stock, I want to get a range of options to choose from, hence the test.

1st coat, top of stain wiped off, half of wood left bare. About a tablespoon/squirt soread with a tooth brush. Pic taken moments after application. I plan in adding a few coats to part of the stained area before applying Shellac over the stain.

I left some overlap to show the progression. I will be applying Garnet Shellack to half of tue long side to show off the combination at different levels of stain, including no stain bare wood.

Another coat. But I wiped it off, too soon I think. Anywats it seems to be taking on s brown hue in the daekest area's but Im not sure if it is from oxidation of the iodine or just thockness. I like the color the best around 3-4 coats but I'm ready to see what the shellback can do on top of these, 1 coat if iodine could be enough for all I know.

Converting Hungarian or Polish Blank/rifle grenade charge Mags

Blank mags use cartridges without bullets to fire rifle grenades. To prevent shooting the grenade with regular live ammo, they issued a special short magazine to hold 10 blanks, with a welded steel blocking bar to prevent live ammo and allow only launching blanks to be loaded. To convert to a regular ammo 10 round mag we must cut and pry out the bar and the welds. 

The blocking bar is welded at the top and bottom of the magazine. Remove the floor plate,spring and follower. Cut the bar at its 90 degree angle in the bottom side. Wear safety goggles. I used a heavy duty dremil cutting disc. I made several notches in the 90 degree angle, closely spaced and then almost 45 degree angle cuts on the sides. You just have to get a pair of pliers on it and break one side free. Then wiggle and pry it off the top side. Once the bar is out use a pair of channel locks to pry off the cut piece of bar/weld. File or sand and coat the bare metal...I used a sharpie.
